Bringing your adventure pup will turn any trip into an even more memorable time. If you love wine and dogs, keep reading about these 3 (Dog-Friendly) Wineries to Explore near Portland with your Best Sassy Buddy.

Today, we are going on a winery journey with Mountain Shiba Ambassador Mango and his dad.  They are a duo of globetrotters and on their weekends off, they explore wineries on the outskirts of Portland, Oregon.

Portland is home to Mango and his creative dad who runs Valiant Pictures. “It’s a city that loves dogs, and the wineries are no exception!” If you’re looking for city adventures with your pup, Portland is definitely the place to be! Not only are there plenty of parks and walking trails to enjoy, but there are also a number of dog-friendly wineries in the area.

MANGO’S PICKS FOR DOG-FRIENDLY WINERIES

Abbey Road Farm – Carlton, Oregon

Abbey Road Farm Winery produces small batch wines with old world philosophies. Their Tasting Room has indoor and outdoor seating, along with covered pergolas. The picnic tables on the lawn are the perfect spot to enjoy wine while you relax with your dog. Don’t forget to take in the beautiful vineyard views. The self-guided tour is free, so be sure to grab your glass as you and your pup take a stroll around the property.

Durant Vineyards – Durant, Oregon

If you’re looking for a way to escape privately in the vineyard, book one of their secluded cabanas. Stay for two hours in an elegant, outdoor lounge with friends, family and of course your dog. If you book a private cabin, a short ATV ride will take you there where you’ll enjoy a bottle of Durant Vineyards wine with your reservation and picnic for four.

Canas Feast Winery – Carlton, Oregon

Want to try your hand at bocce? Then you’ve found the perfect wine-tasting destination! Canas Feast is the paw-fect destination for wine-loving dog parents! Enjoy a glass of vino on the outdoor piazza while your pup takes in the charming views of pastoral tranquility. Or try your hand at bocce with your furry friend by your side. And don’t forget to sample the unique and exceptional wines shared in a spirit of hospitality by knowledgeable people.

“I’m not sure what my dog Mango would say about these wineries, but we sure do enjoy visiting them together! The vineyards are a beautiful place to escape and relax, especially when getting away from our busy schedule and work life. We love the secluded cabanas because it makes us feel like we’re escaping from the city life. For anyone who’s visiting the area, I would highly recommend any of these wineries.”.  -Matt

TIPS FOR BASIC WINERY ETIQUETTE

  1. Plan Ahead. It’s always best to call ahead to the winery to confirm their dog policy in case things have changed.
  2. Keep Your Dog On A Short Leash.
  3. Practice Good Dog Manners. When taking your dog to the winery, it’s important to respect the owners, their property, and other guests.
  4. Bring a Water Bowl and Treats.
  5. Clean-up After Your Pup. Take your pooch for a walk around the outside of the winery, before entering the tasting room.
  6. Be Attentive to Your Dog’s Emotions. Keep an eye on your dog’s stress level and make sure they’re having as much fun as you are.
  7. Keep Your Dog Occupied and Happy. Avoid your dog getting bored and disturbing the experience of other tasting room guests.
  8. Watch What They Eat. Grapes and raisins are toxic for dogs and any alcohol, wine included, can also make your pup severely ill.
  9. Be Aware of Other Animals. Some wineries or farms can have livestock, wild animals, or their own pets on the property.
